Richard Parker Adams, Sr., 78, of Dewy Rose, passed away Monday, September 26, 2016, at his home.
Mr. Adams was born in Elberton, on October 23, 1937, son of the late Arthur Hugh Adams and the late Vivian Euphania Gaines Adams. He was an electrician having worked at Royston Corporation and was also a poultry farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Bond Adams; daughter, Janet (Johnny) Burton of Elberton; son, Mark (Lisa) Adams of Dewy Rose;  daughter-in-law, Jean Adams of Dewy Rose;  sister, Ann Franklin of Elberton; brother, Hugh (Judy) Adams of Elberton; grandchildren, Richard Parker Adams, III, Blake Adams, Brittany Adams, Adam Jones and Michelle Jones Wilson; great-grandchildren, Asher Jones, Jax Jones, Presley Wilson and Morgan Wilson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Adams, Jr. and a great-grandson, Grayson Jones.
Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Bowman at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29.

Martha Craft Ginn, 71, of Montevideo Road, Elberton, received her healing Sunday, September 25, 2016, when she entered her heavenly home. She was surrounded by her loving family. Martha was a blessing to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Born on June 23, 1945, in Elberton, she was the daughter of the late Harold Edwin Craft and Doris Louise Smith Craft. Mrs. Ginn was a retired LPN from AnMed Health Medical Center with 38 years of service and was a member of the Rock Branch Baptist Church. 
Survivors include her husband, Henry L. Ginn; one son, John (Kay) Ginn of Starr, S.C.; two daughters, Christine (David) Sayer, Susan (Jose) Lopez both of Elberton; seven grandchildren: Tiffany and Jada Ginn, Jena and Nathan Sayer, Fernando Santely-Lopez, Lindsey and Logan Lopez; one great-grandchild, Adreanna Toney; two brothers, Harold (Linda) Craft, and Billy (Kathy) Craft both of Starr, S.C.; two sisters, Edwina  (Ron) Faulkenberry of Florence, S.C., Debbie  (Jack) Smith of Greenwood, S.C.; stepmother, Betty Craft of Iva, S.C.; and a special cousin, Linda Cannon. Mrs. Ginn was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the Rock Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Wright officiating. Burial was in the Rock Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Donna Lynn Brown Richardson, 56, of 94 Cade Street, Hartwell, wife of Ronald Richardson, entered into heavenly rest September 20, 2016.
She was born on August 15, 1960, in Orlando, Fla., to the late Wade Thomas Brown and the late Gladys Mae Stone Brown. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband; sisters: Mary Jean Wilson and Julia Clark both of Hartwell, Betty Myers and her husband Leon of Black, Ala.; also several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sue Lawrence.
A life celebration service was held at 3 p.m. Sept. 23, in the chapel of the Coile Hall Spagnoli Funeral Home in Hartwell with the Rev. Jason Webb and Mr. Fred Greenway officiating. Her committal was held in the chapel with burial following in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.

Virginia Adams
Virginia Hilda Harbin Adams, 84, of Royston, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at the Brown Health and Rehabilitation Center in Royston. 
Mrs. Adams was born in Royston, on February 18, 1932, daughter of the late Frank Keese Harbin, Sr. and the late Tee Jacks Harbin. She attended Emmanuel College and the University of Georgia. She was a homemaker and a member of the Royston Baptist Church where she was in the choir, was a Sunday School teacher and also a Vacation Bible School teacher. Mrs. Adams was also a member of the Georgia Daughters of the American Revolution, a Brownie Scout leader, and helped renovate the Taylor Building at Emmanuel College.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Romeo Malcolm Adams; son and daughter-in-law, Julian S. and Lynne S. Adams of Hartwell; daughter and son-in-law, Andrea A. and David L. Anderegg, Jr. of Buford; grandchildren, Christie W. and David L. Anderegg, III of Atlanta, Laura Anne Anderegg of Boston, Mass., Emma Katherine Anderegg of New York, N.Y., Virginia Erin Anderegg of Athens, Benjamin A.T. Anderegg of Athens,  Emily M. and Stephen Adams of Atlanta, Benjamin and Megan DeWitt of Alexandria, Va., Elizabeth DeWitt of Penland, N.C., and Emily DeWitt of Nashville, Tenn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank K. Harbin, Jr. and Samuel Verner Harbin; and sisters, Mary Fain and Agnes Davison.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, in the Royston Baptist Church with the Rev. Jonathan Barlow officiating. Interment followed in the Bowersville City Cemetery.

Barbara Helen Crittendon Cook Jordan, 81, of Old 29 Highway, Hartwell, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at her home.
Born on September 27, 1934, in Hartwell, she was the daughter of the late William Welborn "Bill" Crittendon and Gaspy Pearl Cleveland Crittendon. Mrs. Jordan was a retired weaver with Haynesworth Textile and a member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church. 
Survivors include three sons: Bobby Joe Cook, Doug Cook, and David Cook; two daughters: Cheryl Ann Cook Vasile, and Lynn Cook all of Hartwell; step-children: Patricia Stamey and Peggy Fountain, both of Anderson, S.C., and Pam Laviolette of Hartwell; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Herbert "Happy" Crittendon of Hartwell and Gerald "Grub" Crittendon of Tuscola, Texas; five sisters: Charlotte Crump, Sandra Tucker, Gail Massey all of Hartwell,  Joan Neal of Sandy Springs, S.C., and Betty Alexander of Anderson, S.C. Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Joseph (Jody) Cook and her second husband, Marvin Jordan; and  one brother, Hugh Crittendon.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 24, in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with the Rev. Ken Brewer officiating. Burial was in the Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Ruby Henson Preacher
Ruby Klintworth Henson Preacher, 97, a resident of the Presbyterian Home, The Village at Summerville, S.C., died Tuesday, September 27, 2016. She was born Ruby Elfreda Klintworth at Ashepoo, S.C., on April 28, 1919, and spent her childhood and youth in St. Stephen, S.C., the oldest child of Mayor Otto Fred and Mrs. Pearl Cummings Klintworth.
After finishing her early education in the St. Stephen schools, she attended Greenville Women's College of Furman University for one year.
Ruby was married in 1936 to John L. "Slim" Henson, who later served in the SC State Legislature. Rep. Henson died in 1978. In 1985 she married Col. Brooks C. Preacher, U.S. Army Ret. of Taylors, S.C. Col. Preacher died in 2003.
During World War II, she served as a Civil Servant at the Army Port of Embarkation. She later worked as an accountant with Gibson Tire service and retired after twenty years.
As a longtime resident of Charleston and North Charleston, Ruby was active in the community and held office in several organizations, including the Business and Professional Women's Club and the Charleston Lion's Club Auxiliary. She volunteered as a Tax Preparer with the AARP until she was 90.
She was a member of Park Circle Presbyterian Church for many years and served as an Elder and Sunday School teacher. She recently became a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Charleston.
In addition to her parents, Rep. Henson, and Col. Preacher, she was predeceased by her brother, Otto F. Klintworth, Jr. and a nephew James Daniel Klintworth.
She is survived by her stepsons, Brooks Preacher and his wife, Ruby Ann of Hartwell, and Dr. Stephen Preacher and his wife, Ronda of Lynchburg, Va.; six grandsons: Brooks Conner, Tim Conner, Daniel Preacher, Earl Preacher, Reagan Preacher and Ryan Preacher; several great-grandchildren; her brother, Dennis Klintworth and his wife, Sally, of Charlotte, N.C.; her sister-in-law, Dorothy T. Klintworth of North Charleston; four nephews: Fred, John, Mike and Steve Klintworth; and a number of great-nephews and nieces.
The family wishes to thank the staff of The Village at Summerville and especially her personal caregivers for their faithful and loving care of Ruby. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in St. Stephen at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 30, followed by a memorial service at the chapel of the Village at Summerville at 2 p.m.

Martha P. Coggin
Martha Purgason Coggin, 90, of Canon, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016, at Athens Regional Medical Center in the care of Gentiva Hospice.
Born on November 19, 1925, in Atlanta, and raised in Elberton, she was the daughter of the late Charles O. Coggin, Sr. and Martha Purgason Coggin. She attended Elbert County High School and GA Women's College. Miss Coggin was retired from the University of Georgia in the Psychology Department. She also was a member of the Hartwell First Baptist Church and former member of the Hartwell Pilot Club, Hart County Chapter AARP, a Hart County Literacy volunteer and the Dairy Queen Coffee Club.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Kitty Coggin; one nephew, Tim Coggin; one niece, Pam Fleming (Bobby); two great-nephews, Brian Fleming (Nicole) and Christopher Coggin; two great-nieces, Christie Simpson (Kelvin) and Katie Coggin; and five great-great nieces and nephews also survive. Martha was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Charles O. "Bucky" Coggin, Jr. and one great-nephew, Jonathon Coggin.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with the Rev. Carter Tucker and Mr. Bill Chafin officiating. Burial was in the Forest Hills Memorial Park in Elberton.

Kevin Alexander
Michael Kevin Alexander, 43, of 912 Mt. Olivet Road, Hartwell, entered into rest on Sunday, October 2, 2016, in Lavonia, following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born December 21, 1972, in Anderson, S.C., he was a truck driver with Averitt Express and of the Baptist faith. Kevin was a graduate of Hart County High School and a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran. 
He is survived by his wife, Candice Morrison Alexander; children, Mackenzie Alexander, Annaleigh Alexander, and Callie Alexander of the home; his mother, Kathy Johnson Alexander of Hartwell; brother, Christopher Brent Alexander and his wife Cindy of Elberton; grandfather, Russell Johnson of Elberton; and grandmother, Annie M. Williford of Lavonia. He was preceded in death by his father, James Robert Alexander and his grandparents.
Services celebrating the life of Kevin Alexander were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, in the chapel of Coile-Hall-Spagnoli Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Adams and Rev. Scott Mize officiating. Burial followed in the Memorial Garden of Prayer.
